I have had a some what severe sore throat for over a week .I have treated it with every otc med I can think of.I went to an independent clinic that claims I have an upper respiratory infection. I am in a lot of pain and have a low grade fever that only breaks with ibproferin .They will not give out antibiotics .What can I do, go to my primary doctor for antibiotics or is there anything over the counter that will clear this up?
Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should do following things simultaneously to achieve good relief in URTI. 1. Avoid oily and spicy food. 2. Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day. 3. Take macrolide group of antibiotic. 4. Take antihistamines 5. Take antiinflammatory drugs. Take all these for 5 days and if not improved than get done chest x ray to rule out lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI).
