Suggest Treatment For Urinary Incontinence After Using Intrauterine Device
Hi, I had an IUD fitted 2 months ago (no problems to report - periods fine, no cramping, no mood swings). I last month or so I have noticed I have been coming slightly incontinent. It's when I need to urinate (not desperately) and I sometimes leak. I don't realise it has happened until straight afterwards and its only ever a small amount (not yet enough to become embarassing or take measures). Is having the coil related to incontinence? And if so, what can I do about this?
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Urinary incontinence can be due to stress incontinence in which there is weakness of pelvic muscles , or due to urinary tract infection. It is not at all related to the intrauterine device. I would suggest you to consult a urologist to get properly examined, investigated including urodynamic studies and urine examination, and get appropriate treatment. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
