Hi, I was diagnosed 3 years ago with uterine fibroid masses. I was told they were harmless. All apps have been normal. I have not had a period since 08. I had a period today. I am 55 years old and have not been sexually active for 10 years. Is this normal? Can fibroid masses turn into cancer?
If you have no symptoms, treatment of fibroids isn't necessary. While a hysterectomy is the most common way to treat fibroid tumors. Another possible treatment is myomectomy. This surgery removes fibroids while keeping the uterus intact. But fibroids can grow back after the procedure. I suggest to consult your gynecologist for the best treatment in your case.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
