My friend has been having tests at a local hospital and nothing has been reloved. He had a case of shingles a couple of years ago. After that he developed a problem with vertigo. When he is vertical he has this unsteady balance and vertigo. It is not present when he is horizontal.. ie sleeping postion. This condition is worsening and I would like him to have a second opinion. This is depressing him . He is 82 years old and has enjoyed extremely good health. He is a strong, positive person.
Hi, From history it seems that he might be having Ortostatic hypotension or Postural hypotension giving this problem. Go for measuring his blood pressure on 1, lying down position then 2, while sitting position and 3, while standing position. Keep one minute gap while changing the position. If there is marked fall of Blood pressure from sitting and standing position there might be having orthostatic hypotension. Nothing to worry, this might be due to age. Take care not to have fall while having vertigo. Ok and take care.
