Suggest Treatment For Vertigo

My mom suffers from vertigo. She has recently had multiple episodes and they can last for days. Recently, my mom got an episode and she said that she felt her brain move. I know that the pain does not have any pain receptors. Can one still feel the brain move? Why does it happen?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Vertigo can occur due to many reasons like middle ear infection , some kind of growth in middle ear or fluid in middle ear ( Meniere's disease ) . You should not ignore this , because sometimes the condition get complicated .

Treatment is with antibiotics, steroids and labrynthine sedatives for 6 to 8 weeks following vestibular rehabilitation exercises. All this needs clinical evaluation and medical assistance.

Consult with your ENT specialist ( EAR, NOSE ,THROAT ) and get evaluated. Doctor may order audiometry test and tuning fork test and treat it accordingly .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
