Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son was diagnosed with vitiligo by a Dermatologist recently; she did a biopsy. He has the vitiligo on his hands and it is spreading up his arms. The affected areas are white and scaly. He is thinking about getting a second opinion. Can vitiligo be scaly (it flakes off, but returns to being scaly)? Thanks
Hi...sometimes Vitiligo can be scaly but at the same time, the other closest differential diagnosis would be - Psoriasis. It can start at any age and no age is bar. But, Skin conditions are best diagnosed only after seeing directly. I suggest you to upload photographs of the same on this website, so that I can guide you scientifically. Regards - Dr. Sumanth
