Suggest Treatment For Weakness In The Right Index Finger

Hello, I m 60 yrs old, Italian live in NC. right index finger does not feel right. using cell phone is getting difficult. Is there a rehab work out to the feeling. I am using a squeese spring device to strengthen my hand. is there anything else I could do? or am I going down the wrong road?

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

Exercising trying to strengthen the hand muscles is fine, but one must first of all try to determine the cause of that happening. Such peripheral weakness may be due to different causes like trauma or compression of the peripheral nerves, compression of peripheral nerves in the nec or even neuromuscular conditions like ALS. So I believe it must be investigated through a neurological exam and a test called nerve onduction studies for starters. Depending on the findings other possible tests, causes and management will be decided.
