Suggest Treatment For Wrist Pain

Wrist pain. Unable to apply pressure on lower palm at wrist. Unable to twist(unlocking a door), apply pressure to top of hand (brushing aside a blanket), cannot use scissors, or slice food. Taking miloxicam for almost a month now waiting for MRI results. Will cortisone injects help?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Where exactly is the pain? Is it on the lateral aspect of wrist or inside wrist? There are two possibilities 1. Dequervains tenosynovitis - if you are past middle age and female with lateral wrist pain 2. Tfcc injury - if you have trauma and pain is inside wrist. Now mri will help in differential diagnosis of both conditions.so do it and diagnosis will be confirmed. If it's Dequervains tenosynovitis steroid injections at the most tender site under ultrasound guidance would definitely help in relief of pain and inflammation and gives permanent relief. But if it's TFCc injury steroid injection will not help and you will require arthroscopic repair. So do mri and visit expert orthopaedic surgeon. All the best.
