I was having some yellowish like discharge and smelled like ammonia, then afterwards the smell changed to mashed potatoes. I went to the ER since I am 20 weeks pregnant and was worried of a possible infection. Dr saw milky white discharge and said it was BV. I asked if he could do a swab test to confirm this but he said it was pointless?!! I wanted to be sure since I did not want to take fragyl because of the baby but somehow just by looking at the white discharge he said it was BV. Should I go get a swab test before starting on the antibiotics? why would he say the swab test was useless? Could it be BV? no itching or soreness, just milky white watery discharge, mashed potato smell sometimes ammonia like and discharge sometimes appear as light yellowish on pantyliner. Please help! I want to be sure since I don t want to take flagyl if not needed!
