Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
why would my husbands bp be within range, AFTER taking his meds around dinner time and when he took his reading again around 3:00AM (watching TV) it was very hight yet in the morning (9:00AM) his numbers are within range without taking any additional meds?
It is important to know what kind of medication your husband is taking for his hypertension. This is because medications have different onset of actions, which means that there can be a lag time before the blood pressure lowering effect takes place. Some medications also have a shorter duration of action which means that he may only have the effect for 12-18 hours, for which his blood pressure can rise again.
I recommend a consult with a doctor for proper medications and dosing depending on his blood pressures. I also suggest lifestyle modification like low dietary salt intake and a regular exercise routine, which are both known to lower blood pressures together with medication intake.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Daryl Derick B. Dizon, General & Family Physician
