I was told that I have BPPV. I did the exercises like I the doctors told me to do. I am also taking all the meds like they said. But I am still very dizzy. Meanwhile Ilost my job because of all this. I just want relief. I am tired of my family babing me. Is there any thing else I can do to get some releif?
BPPV means there is position paroxysmal Vertigo and is really incapacitating in some cases. Continue the exercises as advised by your ENT Surgeon, sometimes these help to settle the otolith but sometimes can cause more symptoms. Stop the exercises if the symptoms have increased. Take strict bed rest with head held in single position for as much long time as possible.
Take symptomatic treatment with Cinnarizine, the doses as directed by your doctor. Keep well hydrated. Remain in a calm and dark room. MRI with CT scan of mastoids called as combo-study helps to rule out any other causes like cholesteatoma eroding the balancing structure.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
