Suggest Treatment To Get Rid Of Pain Due To Sprained Ankle

I sprained my ankle severely four and a half months ago. I'm still doing exercises to improve my range of movement. Stretching cold is uncomfortable but I'm not always in a situation where a 15 minute walk to warm up is possible. Would a heating agent such as Deep Heat cream be suitable to aid in warm up?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomatation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. For early recovery you may have Physiotherapy in form of short wave diathermy and TENS.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
