Suggest Treatment To Get The Ability To Smell

Hi I was diagnosed with mild ethmoid sinusitis. I lost my sense of smell. Dont experience any pain or headache. Am just concerned with my sense of smell. I wish to be able to regain it. Hav already did steam inhalation but only twice, sprayed fluticasone and already consumed 4 bottles. It s been nine months since i lost my smell. Pls advice. Thanks.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome in HCM.

i understand your concern and I would like to say that smell sensation is from olfactory area of our nasal cavity. This olfactory area lies on the roof of nasal cavity that is called as cribriform plate. This lies at the top of ethmoid area and as you are having ethmoidal sinusitis which physically obstruct the air to reach to this sensory area which result loss of smell sense.

You may consult your ENT doctor for sinusitis and get it treated, most likely your smelling power will return back.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
