Suggest Treatment To Lower The BP

I have high blood pressure 3/5 times i take it. I m currently a student to become a RN, i do know this is high, but im currently taking Benazepril 20 mg once a day, i no longer smoke, im on a strict diet and, i do not consume alcohol, my BP is still 156/102 60+% of the time, I m wondering if there is anything else i could do at home to help lower my bp. I m 20 years old and personally don t think i should be having high BP. I am also anemic, can that have anything to do with it?

Hi welcome to HCM.
Elevated blood pressure not responding to standard antihypertensive therapy has to evaluated further through a renal ultrasound and CT scan if needed to document any renal parenchymal disease which can lead to elevated blood pressure.I advise you to have a baseline echo and complete urine analysis and report to your consultant nephrologist.Meanwhile reduce the intake of dietary salt to less than 6 mg/day.Regular aerobic physical activity for 20 min a day will help to control the blood pressure.Have a periodical 2 dimensional echo to rule out organic heart disease.consult your cardiologist for further queries.
Thank you.
