Suggest Treatment To Regrow Hair In A Child

My daughter s (10) hair is disappearing. It started this year in February and to this day the problem persists. Her hair was shinny and healthy and suddenly it started to disappear specially in the front above the forehead and on the sides. Also, now its brittle and dull. It used to be straight and now it s wavy. She does not drop that much, normal I would say, but nevertheless, she has very little. Her scalp is visible. The dermatologist has seen her and sent her hair to the lab, it came back normal. The endocrinologist saw her and did blood work along with a thyroid ultrasound and came back normal. I changed her shampoos and now I am applying treatments like mammey oil and she s taking Bioticin (200). This seemed to stop the progression, but her hair has not come back. Any suggestions.

Hello,

I am quite empathetic to the hair fall condition of your daughter and can understand your concern for the same.

In children certain conditions such as nutritional deficiency and worm infestation can cause some more of the hair to come in falling phase. These extra of the hair which comes in senescence are actually visible as falling hair.

If I were your daughter's dermatologist then would have prescribed a tablet containing Acetylcysteine, Calcium Pantothenate, Selenium, Zinc, Biotin, Copper as active ingredients.

Other than this an iron supplementation in diet is quite helpful. I additionally suggest to give Iron syrup daily. All these things are quite helpful and are not harmful to your baby.

Go for her stool examination and see for any worm infestation as is quite common age for the same.

All the best.
