Hi , My father (age 56) had a paralysis attack approx. 3 years back due to which his food pipe got shrink and part of food he intake will start going in lungs. So Dr operated him and done the Tracheotomy and for food intake rice tube is put on his nose. but he is getting weak day by day. Is there is any solution to repair the food pipe so that he can take food normally as before and can speak.
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist. It appears that there is paralysis of pharynx too thats why tracheostomy was done so that he may not aspirate the food and Ryles tube was placed. I don't think there is any option for him. Yah percutaneous endscopic gastrostomy tube can be placed and it will be easier to feed him by this tube. I hope I have answered you query. Wish you a good health
