Hello Since diagnosis is established ( confirmed ) so I am writing the standard treatment & about idopathic pulmonary fibrosis .
The clinical course is variable , with a 5-year survival rate of 20 to 40 % after diagnosis . The treatment options include glucocorticoids ( as your father is receiving , this is a right direction treatment ), cytotoxic agents ( e.g. azathioprine, cyclophosphamide) , and antifibrolytic agents (e.g. colchicine, pirfenidone, or interferon gamma-1b)alone or in conbination with glucocorticoids.
The medicine prescribed by your treating physician is right and if he want he can give other drugs also as mentioned above , because this is standard treatment based on books. Good luck.
