Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have sex with my girlfriend quite often, and she's been on Alesse since January, so there is no worry about her getting pregnant. However, I have very bad OCD, and almost every night after we have sex, I lay in bed really stressed and worried that she might be pregnant, even though I know she won't be. I often lose sleep over this, and I was wondering if there was any way to help cope with this stress.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I understand that you are concerned obsessive symptoms. From the description of your symptoms, it is likely that you are suffering from an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - with predominant obsessions. However a detailed history and psychological assessment is necessary to confirm this diagnosis.
Don't worry, there are effective treatment options for OCD - in the form of medication and psychotherapy, which will help you overcome these obsessive thoughts. Usually medication called SSRIs are used as first-line treatment for this disorder. In addition, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) can be quite effective to overcome these obsessive thoughts. So, I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for further evaluation and treatment.
Wish you all the best.
