Suggest Treatments For Ruptured Appendix And Swelling In Abdomen
My friend had an appendectomy where the appendix ruptured 9 days ago. No drainage tube was inserted in the abdomen, however one was put down her nose an is still in. She has had severe abdominal swelling and a ct scan yesterday, showed an infection. Today they finally put a drainage tube in her abdomen and said they will watch it for the next week. She is still in the hospital. Shouldn't more be done at this point? She is only 110 pounds, 55 yrs old and otherwise very healthy and active. What kind of nutritional support should she be getting? Is there more that we should ask about?

1.Ruptured appendix itself a complication involving with a lot of infective features.
2.Distention of the abdomen post operative period is seen in most of the cases, there is a lot of gas formation.
3.You said the drain has placed now, so if there is any collection intra peritoneal will be drained.
4.Do not worry things will get better, as the time passes.
5.Try to take care of the underlying medical conditions if she has any.
