hey doc...i am 20 years old and completely healthy..i have all sorts of vains along the left side of my testicle and underneath, they feel like a bag of worms..i beleve the doctor said 3 years ago when i was 17 that it was vericole vains! it seems like over the past 3 years it has increased in size and has become noticeable, like a little hump form....i can feel them pretty much almost all around my left testicle..what adivice do you give me on doing
Hi. This is definitely a varicocele of the left side of the scrotum . This is the commoner side as the vein is directly into the left renal vein at a right angle. The incompetence of the vein causes this. I would advise you the following. First of all get semen analysis done to ascertain that varicocele has no negative impact. Secondly, Get an ultrasonography and color doppler examination to determine the grade of the caricocity. If it is of grade three, you need to undergo surgery at the scrotum to reduce the mass also along with tying up of the main testicular vein in the inguinal canal. This called a classical surgery. If the grade is I or II with normal semen analysis, you can go for Laparoscopic clipping of the testicular vein in the abdomen.
