Thyroid medications cause weight gain but it is possible to lose weight. The following are few options to lose weight:
1) Cut down carbohydrates to very minimal.
2) Take moderate amounts of proteins
3) Avoid fats and cholesterol
4) Avoid canned and preserved foods
5) Don't prefer carbonated beverages.
6) You can have freshly pressed fruit juices without adding sugars
7) Eat more amount of fiber in the form of fresh fruits and vegetables
8) Make salads with various vegetables including leafy greens.
9) Avoid sitting for prolonged time.
10) Daily exercise for atleast 45 min for atleast 5 days a week.
11) Drink plenty of water.
12) You can go on intermittent fasting like for 12-16 hrs and then you can eat normally for 5 hrs.
13) Eat small amounts of food and avoid junk food.
14) Avoid day time sleeping.
If you still don't lose weight, you can go to bariatric surgeon and discuss all the other possible options like surgery.
