I am a 37 years old male who is addict to tobbacco chewing (Manikchand) 10 big sachets per day for the last 20 years. I want to quit this habit, however have no will power. Some 10 years ago I had consulted a couple of phsychatrist in Mumbai like Dr.Ashish Sheth and so on , however I did not get any success. Can you suggest me something that will help me quit this habit
Hello Welcome to HCM. De-Addiction does need will power. But there are some medications which will help you to quit tobacco. One is tablet bupropion. This is usually started at dose of 150mg. The tobacco can be slowly reduced in 10days and then the dose can be increased to 300mg. But this is a prescription drug and given under psychiatrist's supervision. You can also keep fennel seeds (saunf) in mouth to replace habit of tobacco chewing.
Hope this helps you. Thanks.
