Suggested Tonsillectomy For Recurrent Tonsillitis. Swollen Lymph Nodes And Tonsil With Ulcer. No Help From Clindamycin. Normal?
Hello! I have been seeing and ENT for recurrent tonsillitis for the past few months. He has suggested a tonsillectomy. I was placed on clindamycin 3 days ago with no relief. Currently I only have swollen lymph nodes and a swollen tonsil possibly with an ulcer. Today had a funny sensation to my jaw which comes and goes. Is this normal or should I be trying to push a surgery sooner? No sore throat and no pain swallowing. Thanks
According to most of ENT specialist criteria for tonsillectomy in recurrent tonsillitis are---> 1. Seven or more episodes in one year. 2. Four or more episodes each year for two consecutive years. 3. Three or more episodes each year for three consecutive years. If you fulfill these criteria then go for surgery otherwise medical management suffices.
