Surgery Scheduled For Nasal Polyps. Viscous Mucus, Tons Of Water Came Out On Blowing Nose. Did Polyp Moved?
I am getting surgery for nasal polyps in a few weeks. at the risk of being gross, i blew my nose and a VERY viscous mucus came out. a bit later i blew it again and a TON of water dislodged and now suddenly i can breathe through my left nostril, which i haven't been able to do in over a month. is that normal? did i move the polyp when i blew? was it not a polyp to being with?
I am Dr Sriram nathan, an ENT surgeon and I shall try to help you out with your problem.
You may be right in assuming that the you might have extruded out the polyp as even polyp is just a bag or balloon with water mucous inside!
Since your nose block is also improved then i may have relived the block too!
But in any case you must consult your ENT who may perform a nasal endoscopy to confirm the complete removal of the polyp. Also a surgery is performed not only to remove the present polyp but also to ensure that in future your chances of getting polyps are less so you must anyway visit your ENT. You can share with me the reports of the nasal endoscopy and the CT PNS and I can help you out better for your future course of action
hope this helps and please do not blow this hard, it is not good for the delicate tissues of the nose
regards
Dr Sriram nathan
