Swelling, Discoloration On The Distal Phalanges Of Ring Finger After Injury, Pain With Icing. Serious?

I hit my left ring finger on the distal phalange with a hammer. The intense pain faded quickly but the swelling has continued to get worse in the last 8 hours. There is discoloration which is getting darker. The finger has feeling and good range of motion . Icing it causes pain, 8 out of 10. How concerned should I be about the swelling tonite?
