Swelling In Foot, Bluish Discoloration, Numbness In Surrounding Area. Knee Transplant Done. Cure?
Two years ago I had a full knee transplant.I am definitely over weight however am active I do swim & do aerobic classes three times a week.I am a widow so keep active with a home & garden. My wee worry is that my foot swells quite badly. It is also quite blue. Alot of numness surrounds this area..It is only in the leg I had the transplant on. I would greatly appreciate your help.
Hello, thanks for using HCM.
From what you described, its most probable that you are suffering from a poor venous drainage due to a disease known as deep venous thrombosis. Being over weight and the history of knee replacement surgery are important contributing factors to the disease. You need to see your doctor for re-evaluation and to do a Doppler ultrasound and D-dimer tests to rule out or confirm the diagnosis. If the diagnosis is confirmed, you will require anticoagulants. Other possible diagnosis include cellulitis, muscle injury, lymph obstruction, venous insufficiency, popliteal cyst etc.
