Swelling In Hand Near Wrist, Had Carpal Tunnel Surgery. Treated With Anti-inflammatory, Pain Medicines And Splint. What Can Help?

Over a month ago my right hand became very swollen and extremely painful and throbbing to the point I could not lift my hand, the pain was unbearable with a light purple coloring of the hand up to about an inch above the wrist and the hand felt hot to the touch. I was treated with anti-inflammatory and pain medications and shots, antibiotics, wore a splint, kept the hand elevated and iced. It is better now, although still swollen, unable to hold a cup of coffee, and experiencing electrical
shock sensations shooting on the top of the hand. What could be causing this? I had carpal tunnel surgery on the hand
in the early 90's and have had no problems since then. I am a female, 68 years old. Thank you for any information you may have.
