Swelling In Knees, Difficulty Bending, Weightgain. On Cymbalta For 2 Months. Side Effects?

Hi I have been taking Cymbalta for two months but within the last two weeks my knees have been swelling. As of this morning they are both so bad I can't bend my knees. or at very little without a lot of pain. This is the only thing that has changed. I also have gained ten pounds within a month. Could you tell me if it may be from the Cymbalta.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Cymbalta i.e.duloxetine is mainly antidepressant drug ,but also uses in neuropathy and osteoarthritis .You are having these symptoms from last 15days
Weight gain and pain in both knees with swelling and stiffness.
May be due to.
1 Osteoarthritis as all symptoms are an indication of osteoarthritis . Diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination by an orthopedic surgeon . X ray with C T scan is also important .
2 Rheumatoid arthritis may be , diagnosis can be confirmed by blood examination for rheumatoid factor and E S R examination.
3 Weight gain is another reason of knee pain, because this joint is a weight bearing joint . When weight increase this may develops pain in weight bearing joints.
Weight gain is not a side effect of cymbalta . Cymbalta decreases appetite .
In my opinion consult an orthopedic surgeon and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
