Swelling With Pus Formation On The Tip Of The Finger. What To Do?
Hi..This started Wednesday last week, Area - top part of the index finger (left hand ). On the first day that area swelled up like a soft tissue injury; next day a more localized area was swollen and at that time I felt that there was some pus formation; since then the pus seems to be getting hardened and the area around it is tender. Cannot use that finger as it hurts when it impacts on anything. Please advise on what I can do.
Hi ..thanks for writing here. You are suffering from finger tip abscess and it needs to be drained .You can consult your doctor for this.Finger tip is a tight compartment containing many nerves and therefore infection in these areas are always painful. You can just take some analgesics and antibiotics like amoxyclav with hot fomentation for temporary relief, but treatment of choice is always surgical.
Hi, thanks for posting your query
You seem to have developed infection. There is tenderness and collection of pus which needs to be drained by a noninvasive procedure incision and drainage by a specialist .
You may start oral antibiotics and local application of mupirocin cream .
Avoid contact with detergents and harsh soaps.
Hope this solves your query
