Swollen Arm Below The Elbow After Knocking The Elbow Hard. History Of Being Treated For Elbow Bursitis. Any Thoughts?
Hi! I was diagnosed with elbow bursitis about 4 weeks ago. Liquid was withdrawn( about 6cc s I believe) and cortisone was. Injected in the joint. Things seems to be normal after that. Then 2 weeks ago I knocked my elbow pretty hard while showering. Since then my whole left arm below the elbow has slowly swollen, and the skin is also quite a bit warmer than usual. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
Hello, now I think, there is two possibilities-- one is septic arthritis after elbow injection. but after Joint injection, chance of septic arthritis is low, if proper precaution has been taken Second possibility is related to trauma. But to reached to a conclusion, one need to see x ray and probably ultrasound of elbow, and above all, clinical exam by an expert Till you see your doctor again, I would like to advice that give rest to your elbow joint and avoid lifting heavy object from that arm. You can take pain killer as and when required.
