Swollen Eye, Cut On Eyebrow, Painful, Discomfort. Why?
I fell face down on a sidewalk nine days ago resulting in a swollen right eye and a small cut on the right eyebrow. I was wearing glasses at the time of the fall, and by the next day both eyes were black and blue. My family insisted that I go to the ER, and a physician there ordered a CT scan which showed only a swollen eye. The cut was treated and closed with "glue". Most of the swelling has gone away, and the bruising is diminishing, too. However, there is still an egg-shaped lump about an inch long starting at the eyebrow wound and extending down into the upper eyelid. It is not painful but is slightly uncomfortable when touched. Should I see my physician about this?
Dear Sharon, Hi, It is good that you are recovering after your injury. The bruise and swelling is coming down and healing. The lump in the eye brow and upper lid may be due to clotted blood which will resolve in 3 weeks time. If there is no pain you don't have to worry as it will take time to resolve. If the lump still persist after a month , visit an ophthalmologist who may re do a CT scan to find the pathology. Don't worry everything will be fine . take rest...Dr Ajay Shankar kar
