Swollen Glands, Unable To Swallow. Any Idea Why Is It ?
I just woke up and I have really swollen glands. They ve been like this before almost looks like I have mono, but I ve already had that before. It s hurts to swallow and about 15 minutes ago I went to blow my nose and a huge flesh looking tender booger thing came out. Looked disgusting. Do you have any idea why this is ?
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are most likely suffering from acute upper respiratory tract infection with involvement of tonsils and associated secondary bacterial infection.
Presence of enlarged glands and yellowish discharge suggest the diagnosis.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist/ ENT surgeon and should go for thorough check up.
You should take complete antibiotic course, mucolytics, decongestants and anti inflammatory medicines on written prescription.
You should avoid oily and sour food, cold drinks and yogurt.
Perform gargles three times in day; a glass of lukewarm water with a pinch of salt.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
