hello and welcome to hcm forum,
as you stated that there is persistent pain on the left side ,radiating to the head and neck,
also gums are swollen, it seems to be a case of acute infection, which may or may not be associated with erupting wisdom tooth, to clear out the diagnosis kindly get him checked clinically by a dentist.
I would recommend, warm saline rinses or betadine mouth gargles(3-4times/day),
a complete course of antibiotic and anti inflammatory is also required.
It is highly recommended to visit your dentist.
I wish you good health,
take care.

Hello,
welcome to healthcare magic! You have not mentioned the age of your partner. Wisdom teeth erupt at the age between 18-25 years. He must go for a complete oral examination. Besides wisdom teeth eruption, these symptoms could be of salivary gland inflammation, mumps etc. If the oral surgeon feels the need, an OPG or a full mouth X ray has to be taken to diagnose the condition. Till that time for pain relief, Tab Aceclo Plus (Aceclofenac ) or Tab Ketorol -10 mg can be taken. If the pain is severe, both can be taken at the same time. Warm water gargles with salt or Betadine gargles will give a lot of relief. Take care!
