Swollen Legs, Uric Acid 7.2, Itching After Taking Febujet. Reaction?

My mother is 79, her legs are swollen and during testing found Uric Acid 7.2. Doctor prescribed FebuJet 40 mg for her daily one after breakfast but after taking one tablet she has itching on her body and now she stopped. Is it related with some salt in Febuzet which is reacting with her body and is their any alternative available ?

Hello,
Febuzet has FEBUXOSTAT as its salt and is basically a xanthine oxidase inhibitor which results in blocking of production of uric acid.
Severe allergic reactions are one of the uncommon side effects of taking this medicine. If somebody is allergic to FEBUXOSTAT,then here is one another medicine belonging to the same group of xanthine oxidase inhibitors, known as ALLOPURINOL.
Talk to your doctor regarding the prescription of ALLOPURINOL.
Thanks
