Swollen, Red Eye With Some White Discharge. Is This A Sign Of Illness?
I woke up and my eye was really watery and gooey white stuff was coming out of it. I didn't go to the doctor thinking it would go away and don't have the money, but instead of getting better its worse. It is really swollen and red. I keep getting gooey white stuff out of it. When I keep my eye open it gets real watery and burns. And when I close it it's so tender and hurts
Hi, Welcome to HCM, Your symptoms suggest that you have an Bacterial Eye Infection. As you did not take immediate treatment, you have got swollen, red and painful eyes. You need to do hot fomentation of your eyes, with hot water in a bowl with pinch of Boric Acid powder. Repeat it 3-4 times in a day. You have to use Antibiotic drops every 4 hourly and Antibiotic ointments three times in a day. make sure that before you sleep, you put Antibiotic ointment, so your eyes will not be sticky in the morning. You should also take Pain killers to reduce redness, swelling and pain. Take good care of Hygiene, and do not share your personal towels, etc from others. it is contagious, and can spread to others by contacts. Take good care. Dr H Hamdani
