Swollen Right Tonsil, White Patches, Difficulty In Breathing. Diagnosed As Strep. Had Oral Sex. STD?

It started out hard to swallow so I looked in the mirror at my throat with a flash light and my right tonsil was severely swollen and had white patches on it. I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I was positive with strep. But today the swelling has gotten worse and the left tonsil is starting to swell and get white patches on it. I can barely swallow and it's hard to breathe. Last Sunday I had oral sex with a questionable person... And then Thursday this started to get sore and Friday it swelled. Could it be a type of std?

I have gone through your query regarding swelling and white patches over tonsils and pain is too severe to swallow any thing, all this begin after oral sex with a questionable person.

Your history of illness clearly favors to Acute follicular tonsillitis though infecting organism may reach there by oral sex .

You are advice for-

1- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

2- V.D.R.L.

3- Blood- CBC, ESR, Blood sugar (F & PP).

Correct antibiotic may be advised after identification of causative organism and it's sensitivity spectrum but for immediate relief you may take-

1- Tab Paracetamol.

2- Warm saline gargling.

3- Cough syrup.

4- Adequate fluid orally.
