Swollen Tonsils With White Spots. Reddish Throat. History Of Getting Steroid Shot In The Past. Need A Remedy
My tonsils have been swollen for months. They have small things on them that were originally white and now look more like scars. There is a new white one, though. The whole back of my throat is red, but it doesn t hurt, and really, the tonsils aren t causing any problems, it s just that it won t go away. At one point they were so swollen that I had to go to the emergency room to get a steroid shot.
The swollen tonsils have in them small holes called crypts which can cause the collection of secretions in them which can solidify to cause what we call as the tonsilolith or tonsil stone.
If this is happening frequently and since your tonsils are swollen and also since you have had episodes where you need to visit the ER, it is recommended that you undergo tonsillectomy or the removal of the tonsils which is a simple routine surgery which can give a permanent relief and cure to all your problems
