Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
High Blood pressure is known as the silent killer because it has only a few symptoms, that can be easily ignored as other causes for these symptoms, they include dizziness, headache, nose bleeds, redness to the skin especially face. However these symptoms are not usually present until B/P is very high. The best way to determine high B/P, is to have a nurse or doctor check you. Top number should be 100-140 and bottom number between 60-90, but some are now saying 80. The bottom number is more of a factor than the top. When you have 3 readings of borderline readings, they usually start you on medicine. Borderline being 136/88, or 142/94 . When the bottom number is over 100, you will almost always be started on meds. Watch your salt intake, lose weight if you need and quit smoking to help decrease your risk. Good luck!
