Taken Immodium, Dioralite For Diarrhea. Feeling Exhausted. What Was It?
I had diarrhoea for 5/6 days and not eaten hardly a thing in that time. diarrhoea was just water at first and went about 4/5 times a day, then it went black and tar like. I have taken immodium, dioralite and stomach settlers and drank as much water as i can. occasionally eating toast and bananas. I have stopped going to the loo now, but feel exhausted. what was it?
Tar like stool is very serious symptoms. Such color is usually caused by a blood from stomach or duodenum. Bleeding can be caused by peptic ulcer or even stomach cancer. Weakness can be a symptom of low hemoglobin level or dehydration and ions deficiency due to diarrhea. You may also have upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting.
I suggest you to do not wait anymore and visit your doctor as soon as possible. Blood work should be done and in case of low hemoglobin level, emergency gastroscopy. Otherwise, gastroscopy should be scheduled.
IN a meanwhile avoid coffee and any other hot drinks.
Hope this will help. Regards.
