Taken Prednisone For Polymyalgia Rheumatic. Have Knee And Shoulder Pain. Should Naproxen Be Taken?

I am having a resurgence of my polymyalgia rheumatic first diagnosed in 2008 and treated by a rheumatologist with Prednisone 20mgm diminishing to 1mgm and off in 2011. It has returned in a mild form (my sed rate is 28) due to stress. My daughter died and my husband has been very ill.
My rheumatologist has recommended a short treatment of 5 mgm per day IF Naproxin 500 mgm bid with Tylenol for breakthrough pain. I have pain in my knees and shoulders and a feeling of being unwell. I am depressed but it feels situational. My bone scans are OK. I am ambivalent about going back on the Prednisone at 82. My pain level is a 3 or 4. My question is it better to get on this now or can I just soldier on and for how long?
Thank you so much for your help.

Hello ,

thanks for writing to us
Prednisolone has its own major adverse effect
I will suggest to take deflazacort with methotrexate consulting your doctor.

This is a systemic condition ,you need combined modalities ,like physio, exercises, diet ,meditation.
you may need methylcobalamine , muscle relaxant with analgesic
physiotherapy - SWD ,IFT WILL HELP
