Taken Medicine For Sinusitis. Have Hissing In Ears, Headache. Help

I was told I had sinuititis back in July as the Dr said I had fluid behind my ears as I complained of hissing in my ears. I was told that it should clear up with drops, antibiotics, antihistamines and nose sprays. I finished 2 courses of antibiotics, several sprays, antihistamines but the hissing has not gone away and I was told I have tinnitus . On random times I get ringing but that goes within a few seconds but the hissing remains. Before this started I use to get headaches which lasted for days prior to this, then they stopped. I am seeing the neurologist and ENT in a couple of months. The noise is really annoying, just can t cope with it!!! I have tickly throats, colds, tickly ears where I feel I want to scratch inside several times between now and July, can t help thinking I m bunged up inside and it clears then I get all those symptoms of the cold all over again so the eushtation tubes haven t cleared up.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to HCM,

I have understood your concern and it is unfortunate that your hissing in ears are still persisting after all your treatments.

Since you have already tried antibiotics and other conventional treatment, we need to think of other cause of your problems. For this you need to do the following:
1. Get an audiometric analysis done along with impedance and get back to me with the reports
2. Get a CT scan of the temporal bone with special emphasis on the ossicles and tympanic membrane and get back to me with the reports
3. Do steam inhalation at least three times in a day for the next two weeks and then twice a day for one month
4. Take a tablet called the TINNICAR specifically for your tinnitus and am sure you will feel better. Your doctor will know about this.

take care and do not worry about the sound much

regards

Hi

I believe that you are quite annoyed by now. But tell me-Has your Doctor asked for the tests called-PTA (Pure Tone Audiometry) and Typmanometry/Impedance test for your ear.

This test is done by making you wear an ear phone in a sound proof room.

If yes- please let me know of its findings and if not-Please get these tests done and I can answer you a lot better.

Thanks
