Taking Amytriptyline Long-term. Recurrent Vaginal Pain. History Of Recurrent Bladder Infections. Due To Low Dose Medicine?

My wife has taken 10 mg Amytriptoline (originally for vulvadynia) for now almost 15 years. She has re urgent vaginal ares pain and has a history of non-responsive and recurrent bladder infections as well as incomplete bladder emptying. Can her present problems be correlated with long term low dosage Amytriptoline usage.

hello

YES you are right that amiryptaline can cause urinary retention , and hence incomplete emptying

Whenever there is incomplete emptying , there is recurrent urine infection , and recurrent infection causes multi drug resistant organism infection

I would recommend that there are several other antidepressants that have more potency that amitryptaline for vulvodynia

Amitryptaline use for more than 1 year can cause these side effects
