Taking Cilacar T For High BP. History Of Swelling In Ankle And Joint Pain Due To Intake Of Teleact M. BP Under Control. Should The Tablet Be Continued?

I am taking medicine Cilacar - T for control of high blood pressure. Earlier I was using teleact M as medicine to control BP but after using 2 to 3 years swelling on my ankle revealed and doctor suggested to change the medicine as it was side effect of teleact M. But my feeling is that though there is no swelling but some times I feel joints pain. so my query is that whether it is side effect of that medicine or not?

I am taking medicine for blood pressure for 4 to 5 years. However Cilacar T I started just 4 months back on advise from doctor. I am taking only half tablet a day and blood pressure ranges from 120 / 80. should i continue with this medicine or should I stop using any medicines for blood pressure as it is under control?

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,'
You have essential Hypertension and taking treatment Cilacar T which is combination of calcium channel blocker(Cilnidipine) and Angiotensin receptor blocker (Telmisartan).
You should understand that high blood pressure is mostly treatment is life long so you should not stop medicine even if blood pressure readings are normal but please visit the physician to reduce the dose if he/she thinks it is appropriate to do so.
Sometimes slight swelling of ankle may occur due to calcium channel blockers but it is much less with cilacar.
Please take less salt wish you good health.
