Hi,

Opioid intake regularly for over an year, including oxycodone and now you take buprenorphine (subutex) (?under supervision). Buprenorphine is also an opioid drug used in the treatment of dependence or addiction to opioids mainly to reduce the withdrawal symptoms. If taken regularly, without supervision, it can cause dependence by itself.
Regular opioid intake for over an year causes dependence which makes it difficult to stop the drug suddenly because of the withdrawal symptoms. It makes it necessary to seek medical help for this reason.
Methadone has similar properties as the above drugs and is used in the treatment of opioid dependence to reduce withdrawal symptoms. This is known as oral substitution therapy (OST) and not cold turkey (which is when no drug is given to relieve withdrawals).
A psychiatrist has to be consulted and deaddiction done accordingly. Psychological therapies like Motivational enhancement therapy or relapse prevention therapy will be useful for you as well to help remain abstinent.

Hope this helps,
Dr A Rao
