Taking Prednisone For UC. Have Joint Discomfort Due To RA. Recommended Dosage Of Pregnenolone?
HI, I was on prednisone for about 4-5 years for UC... and systemic inflammation. My UC is gone and my gut is very good now and my Inflammation markers are way down.So I weaned off of Pred. A month after I began with joint discomfort (RA) it has gotten progressively worse.I just started w/ Pregnenolone , I do fish oil and other supplements and eat a very alkaline diet.Do you have any experience w/ Pregnenolone and the recommended dosage. I am 56 thru menopause.
Hi. Arthritis associated with ulcerative colitis is called enteropathic arthritis, and is a very common accompaniment of UC. This is unlikely to be due to RA. For such arthritis, the drug of choice is sulfasalazine, which will also have effects on the bowel, and on the joints. Prednisolone can be given for a temporary control of symptoms until the time sulfasalazine starts acting which will take approximately 6-8 weeks. I'm not sure why pregnenolone was given, but maybe it has been given as a part of hormone replacement therapy. So this is what i suggest for your arthritis. Thank you.
