Taking Premia After Hysterectomy. Have Lethargy, Sleepiness, Loss Of Appetite, Depression, Bloating, Watery Discharge

Hi Doctor,
I am 58 years of age, had a hysterectomy when I was 28, leaving one ovarie insitu. When I was 38 that overie was removed. I was on an implant (government now banned them), which was excellent with high 100 dosage. I now take Premia 2.5, with little effect. I have experience extreme lethargy , want to sleep all the time, loss of apetite, brain fuzziness, impatience, depression, extreme bloating, with watery discharge (no smell). It has effected my work, cannot sustain a job for long. I have these symptons religiously every 6 months (it is a pattern twice a year). I know its coming when I get irritable and extremely tired, and it can last for several weeks. I need to take off 2 months (out of society) to deal with it. It is debillitating. Can you give me any clues as to what I can do. When I go to the doctor and I've seen a few, they just give me a low dosage of oestregen and send me on my way. And should I be going through this at my age, its been approximately 20 years since the overie was removed, and 30 years since the hysterectomy. Basically it has effected my life. thanks for your input. Susy

Hi

It seems that Premia is not working for you. Moreover you have side-effects. You are taking Premia as a hormonal replacement therapy.

I will suggest a few things:
There can be other causes of your symptoms other than the pills. Thus you may ask for investigations.
You may go off the pills after consulting with your physician, as you have already crossed the usual age for menopause.
Include exercise, relaxation techniques and nutritious diet as part of change in lifestyle.

Take care
Dr Vaishalee
