Taking Birth Control Pill For PCOS. Done Splenectomy. Had Unprotected Sex. Pregnancy Possible?
I started taking the pill [to help manage PCOS] a week before my emergency splenectomy on February 26th. [I was born with 2 spleens, so I still have one left.] The whole week I was in the hospital, taking the pill was the last thing on my mind. After all the trauma my body has been through from the splenectomy, could it be possible to be pregnant? The last time I had unprotected intercourse was February 14.
Hi monique,
Thanks for consulting us.
As you were not on birth control when you last had unprotected sex & started taking pills afterwards, chance of pregnancy is certainly there, unless you have had periods after 14th Feb.
Stress of surgery is not always enough to inhibit an ongoing pregnancy. So, if you miss your period you must go for a pregnancy test.
