Your symptoms were apparently due to either,
diuretic pill-induced
dehydration or, imbalance of electrolytes- particularly Sodium and Potassium in the blood.
Further, these symptoms in a chronic hypertensive patient can also be due to constant strain/overload on the heart (in poorly controlled
hypertension), which causes gradually progressive failure of the heart.
If the problems are due to diuretic-induced dehydration, a milder diuretic can be prescribed or, stop it all together. However, your treating doctor is the best judge.
