Taking Levepil After Having Brain Hemorrhage. Suffer From Depression. On Stalopam. Drug Interaction?
Hi My Dad is 60 Years Old and recently he had haemorhage (Brain) and doctor started him Levepil. He was already having some psychiatric problem like depression and was receivng stalopam (Escitalopram Oxalate) for the same. Now I want to ask that its almost 6 months that he is taking Levepil (Levetiracetam) and his mental condition is bad than before. So can taking Levepil and Stalopam taking together for such period (6 months) caused such problems and when Levepil can be stopped ?
I have gone through your history. Escitalopram is very good antideprrsant drug which jas very low drug interactions with other drug. So it is less likely that because of combination, his condition is worsening.
The worsening in your condition might be due to - Ineffectiveness of escitalopram -- Worsening of hematoma - Diagnosis other than depression like dementia.
In any case, you should consult qualified psychiatrist for evaluation and management. Treatment will be as per cause.
Thanks.
