Taking Levothyroxine Sodium For Thyroidectomy Done Last Year With A History Of Renal Stones. Suggest An Alternative For The Medication As It Is Increasing The Frequency Of Renal Colic
Hi I am taking levothyroxine sodium due to thyroidectomy done last year. I also experienced renal stone in past. Now it seems to me that the frequency of renal colic has increase since I have started taking the tablet. If this the case how i could reduce the occurrence of the problem? Is there any substitute for levothyroxine sodium regarding my previous problem? In UA usually calcium oxalate is reported Many thanks
Hi Levothyroxine does not increase the frequency of renal stones. The best method to decrease the renal stone is to drink a lot of water. Drink water to keep your urine colourless. Thsese are the recommendations to prevent oxalate stones:
1.reducing sodium(Salt) 2.reducing animal protein, such as meat, eggs, and fish 3.getting enough calcium from food or taking calcium supplements with food 4.avoiding foods high in oxalate, such as spinach, rhubarb, nuts, and wheat bran GOOD LUCK Dr Saif
